Protesters slammed AI after breaking into a Microsoft data centre site in Amsterdam on Friday (6 November), hanging anti-AI banners and spray-painting graffiti.
The incident occurred during a demonstration against the facility on the outskirts of the Dutch capital.
More than 100 activists gathered at the site and eventually entered it.
Protester Sam van der Beek said the demonstrators were opposed to ‘this whole AI infrastructure,’ saying that data centres are ‘destroying our world.’
Friday’s protest kicked off two days of rallies against energy used for AI buildouts.
Other planned actions include a march in Dublin, a protest outside the parliament building in Warsaw, and a demonstration against a different Microsoft data centre in Denmark.
