Pinterest users are tired of all this AI nonsense

For five years Caitlyn Jones uses Pinterest weekly to find recipes for her son. In September, Jones discovered a creamy slow cooker recipe with chicken and broccoli sprinkled with golden cheddar and a sprinkle of parsley. She quickly looked at the ingredients and added them to her shopping list. But just as she was about to start cooking, having already bought everything, one thing caught her eye: the recipe said that she should first “register” the chicken in the slow cooker.

Confused, she clicked on the “About” page of the recipe blog. An eerily perfect-looking woman beamed at her, golden light reflecting off her apron and disheveled hair. Jones immediately realized what was happening: the woman was created by the AI.

“Hello, I’m Souzan Thorne!” read the page. “I grew up in a home where the kitchen was the heart of everything.” The accompanying images were pristine but strange, the biography vague and general.
