AI-powered search startup Perplexity remains on track for a public listing in 2028 regardless of how upcoming mega-IPOs from rivals Anthropic and OpenAI perform, reports CNBC.
“Agnostic of these two companies, we were planning for something in 2028 so that still remains the case,” said Aravind Srinivas, Chief Executive Officer, Perplexity, reinforcing comments he had previously made about avoiding a public listing before 2028.
His remarks come after AI startup Anthropic confidentially filed for an initial public offering last week, while OpenAI also filed IPO paperwork earlier this week. Alongside the anticipated listing of SpaceX, the offerings are expected to rank among the largest technology IPOs in history and serve as a key test of investor appetite for high-valued AI companies.
Srinivas said that the performance of these listings could influence broader market sentiment toward artificial intelligence firms.
“I certainly think there will be ripple effects if they don’t go well,” he said, adding that SpaceX’s market debut could act as an early indicator of investor demand for subsequent AI-related offerings.
