Perplexity has introduced a new artificial intelligence assistant designed to work directly on personal computers, marking its latest step into agent-based computing tools. The software, named Personal Computer, is available today for Mac devices and builds on the multi-model orchestration technology first unveiled with the company’s earlier Computer system at the end of February.
The launch places Perplexity among a growing group of technology firms developing AI systems capable of performing tasks across multiple applications. These tools are intended to move beyond simple question-and-answer features, enabling automated workflows that can operate across files, apps and online services.
AI agents designed to handle everyday workflows
A Personal Computer is built as a suite of computer-use agents capable of working across a user’s files, applications, connectors, and web services. The company describes the platform as capable of completing complex, ongoing workflows that would typically require manual interaction across multiple programs.
