Artificial intelligence startup Perplexity AI has begun sending Apple’s Mac mini to a select group of creators and technology enthusiasts as it promotes its new AI feature, Personal Computer.
Several creators recently shared posts on social media showing the devices they received from the company. In their posts, users thanked Perplexity and said they were looking forward to testing the new software on the Mac Mini.
Perplexity confirmed to Business Insider that it had provided a limited number of Mac Minis to people who were interested in exploring the full capabilities of Personal Computer through the company’s Mac application.
Personal Computer, which started rolling out in April, expands on Perplexity’s existing Computer agent. The tool is designed to work across local files, native applications, connected services and the web. It can carry out tasks that involve multiple applications and workflows instead of limiting interactions to a chat interface.
The feature currently operates through Perplexity’s Mac app. According to the company, it can organise files, manage tasks, compare local documents with information available online, draft emails, send messages and perform actions across different applications.
