Oracle has entered into a new agreement with Bloom Energy to secure up to 2.8 GW of fuel cell capacity while increasing investment in AI and cloud computing infrastructure.

The deal includes an initial contracted order of 1.2 GW, which Bloom Energy has already started deploying to Oracle projects in the US.

Installation of these fuel cells is expected to continue into next year.

The collaboration is part of both companies’ strategy to meet the increasing energy demands driven by higher density AI workloads.

Bloom Energy’s technology supports on-site energy generation that responds to rapid changes in demand with a platform designed to meet new standards such as 800 VDC.

The agreement between the companies provides for delivery under a master services agreement, building on a previous distributed energy partnership.

Oracle cited the need for reliable and fast modular power sources to keep pace with the growing use of AI and cloud services.
