Oracle is cutting 491 jobs in Washington state as it rolls out AI-powered engineering

Oracle is laying off 491 employees in Washington state, according to a report submission Tuesday from the state Employment Security Department.

The cuts affect workers in two Seattle offices as well as remote employees and take effect June 1. The cloud and database giant stated in its WARN letter that the offices will not be closed.

earlier this month Bloomberg and others reported that Oracle planned to cut thousands of jobs across the company to finance the costly deployment of new data centers. According to comments from Oracle co-CEO Mike Sicilia, the cuts are also the result of AI-driven efficiencies within the organization Results call March 10th.
