May’s hot jobs report may have been caused by an earlier-than-usual Memorial Day holiday, but it still put inflation and the Fed’s outlook at the center of market discourse. Rising Treasury yields indicate the direction in which consensus expectations are moving.
A key data point in this debate will be Wednesday’s inflation report, which is expected to show a +2.8% year-on-year change in the “core” CPI, which is in line with the previous month.
