OpenAI faces a “brutal” challenge as Australian startups pick and choose

Australian startups are looking to capitalize on the cut-throat competition between global AI giants, taking advantage of the latest developments from Google, Amazon, Anthropic and even Chinese players, while ChatGPT maker OpenAI faces its biggest challenge since its launch.

As part of a campaign to attract Australian customers, OpenAI has signed deals with a host of local venture capital firms to give portfolio start-ups free access to its services after opening its first office in Sydney on Tuesday.
