Nvidia’s Huang urges tech leaders to avoid AI fearmongering

Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Jensen Huang, when asked how Anthropic PBC could have better handled the messy contract negotiations with the Pentagon, said technology leaders need to be careful not to scare people away from artificial intelligence.

“The desire to warn people about the power of technology is really great,” Huang said during a panel discussion at the company’s technology conference. “Warning is good, scaring is not so good because this technology is too important to us.”

Underlying this advice is Huang’s belief that the biggest risk to U.S. national security related to AI is that Americans will be so angry, fearful or paranoid that the country will adopt the technology more slowly than its competitors.
