Nvidia is reportedly in discussions to make an additional investment in AI search startup Perplexity. If the deal is completed, Perplexity’s valuation is expected to surpass $30 billion (approximately 41.45 trillion won).
According to Reuters on the 24th, U.S. tech publication The Information reported that Nvidia is negotiating to participate in Perplexity’s new equity funding round. Specific investment amounts were not disclosed.
Once this funding round is completed, Perplexity’s valuation would represent a more than 50% increase from its previous fundraising just one year ago. Perplexity was valued at $20 billion (approximately 27.63 trillion won) in a funding round last September.
Rapid revenue growth is underpinning the valuation increase. Perplexity’s annualized revenue has more than tripled from under $250 million (approximately 345.4 billion won) earlier this year to over $750 million (approximately 1.04 trillion won) recently. The cloud-based AI agent “Perplexity Computer,” which automates professional computer tasks, has been a key growth driver.
Perplexity has grown from an AI search service that answers user questions with cited sources using generative AI, and is now expanding into AI agents and other business areas. Earlier this year, the company signed a $750 million contract to use Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, and it is also pursuing an initial public offering in 2028.
