Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) is reportedly holding talks about investing in artificial intelligence startup Perplexity through a new financing round that could value the company at more than $30 billion, according to The Information.
The discussions centre on a funding round potentially worth several billion dollars, with Nvidia among the prospective investors, the report said, citing people familiar with the negotiations.
If completed at the reported valuation, the financing would represent an increase of more than 50% compared with Perplexity’s previous fundraising round about a year ago. Reports at the time valued the AI company at approximately $20 billion.
Perplexity Revenue Growth Accelerates
The potential Nvidia investment comes as commercial ties between the two companies have strengthened and Perplexity has recorded rapid revenue growth.
According to The Information, Perplexity’s annualised revenue has climbed above $750 million, compared with less than $250 million at the beginning of the year.
That represents a substantial acceleration in the startup’s commercial performance as demand for generative AI products and autonomous software tools continues to expand.
