Nvidia in talks to invest in Perplexity at over  billion valuation

Nvidia is in discussions to invest in AI search startup Perplexity as part of a new funding round that could value the company at more than $30 billion, according to The Information, as reported by Reuters. Reuters said it could not immediately independently verify the report.

The proposed funding round would mark a significant jump in Perplexity’s valuation. According to the report, the new valuation would be more than 50% higher than the roughly $20 billion valuation attached to its previous financing round about a year ago.

Perplexity’s rapid revenue growth is a key factor behind the latest fundraising discussions. Its annualised revenue has climbed to more than $750 million, from less than $250 million at the beginning of the year, according to The Information.

The growth has been supported in part by Perplexity Computer, an AI agent designed to automate tasks on computers and aimed particularly at professional users. The product adds another layer to Perplexity’s original AI search business as the company expands into agentic AI.

Nvidia and Perplexity have already developed closer business ties. Perplexity has said it plans to use Nvidia’s Vera CPUs for agentic AI queries and has previously agreed to use Nvidia chips through CoreWeave. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has also said he uses Perplexity as a chatbot.
