Spanning robotaxis, vans and freight trucks, Nvidia Hyperion gives Nvidia a hold on European autonomy that reaches beyond its chips
Bolt plans a European robotaxi fleet of 25,000 or more level 4-capable Lucid vehicles, among several Nvidia Hyperion programmes shown at GTC Berlin. Einride, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles presented level 3 and level 4 applications, while Volvo Cars has taken up Hyperion with Alpamayo Stack software.
Bolt’s data collection is due to start in Madrid in 2027, subject to regulatory approval, with Germany next. It will tune the software with Nvidia for European roads and other manufacturers’ vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz is extending its Nvidia partnership to level 3 and level 4 work and expects German approval soon for MB.Drive Assist Pro, a co-developed urban driver assistant. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brought its ID. Buzz AD, and Einride is basing its freight-driving system on Hyperion.
Hyperion accepts partners’ own software, so one architecture can serve robotaxis, vans and trucks. Deployment hinges on proving safety, and Nvidia’s answer is Halos SAFE, which ties simulation, road testing and fleet data to traceable evidence.
“Robotaxis are the first mass-market application of robotics and physical AI, reinventing how people and goods move,” Jensen Huang, Founder and Chief Executive of Nvidia, said. “Nvidia Hyperion, together with our Halos safety operating system, gives our partners a full-stack…
