NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has announced a new partnership with Dell in the AI hardware industry ahead of the company’s upcoming earnings call. This collaboration will involve offering servers that support NVIDIA’s Blackwell AI GPUs and will enhance their capacity while being shorter in size compared to previous models. The goal of this partnership is to provide companies with the necessary hardware to run artificial intelligence models and environments.

The Dell AI factory will consist of CPUs, GPUs, switches, and other components to create a complete hardware package for AI operations. Huang emphasized the ease of access to this AI factory, likening it to Dell’s early days with PCs and now transitioning to AI factories. Companies can approach Dell with their specifications and requirements to start producing intelligence at scale.

Dell’s AI factory incorporates hardware and software assets from various major American technology companies, including Broadcom, Qualcomm, Microsoft, and a partnership with Meta and Microsoft for enterprise solutions. The Dell PowerEdge XE9680L server supports up to eight liquid-cooled NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and allows for quick scaling of deployment. Future versions of this server will be able to accommodate up to 72 NVIDIA GPUs in a single rack.

NVIDIA GPUs are favored for heavy-duty computing tasks like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, but competition in the AI hardware market comes from AMD with its MI300X AI accelerators and Intel with its Gaudi 3 AI accelerator. Intel’s Gaudi 3 AI accelerator boasts a 50% performance boost for certain applications over the H100.

Overall, the partnership between NVIDIA and Dell aims to provide companies with the tools and infrastructure needed to advance their AI initiatives efficiently. This collaboration comes at a time when AI is a focal point for investors and tech companies alike, with the potential to shape the future of various industries.
