Today, Chinese developer Eclipse Glow Games shared a new behind-the-scenes video about their upcoming single player fantasy action/adventure game, Tides of Annihilation.
This video has a decidedly technical focus and reveals the studio’s “deep technical partnership” with Unreal Engine maker Epic Games and NVIDIA to greatly improve the game’s optimization. The previous footage showcased colossal fights, such as against the Giant Knight, where the frame rate clearly dropped significantly.
With the help of Epic, the developers of Tides of Annihilation created a new hierarchical mounting solution for the Giant Knight’s Nanite mesh. Epic also helped analyze performance issues on both the CPU and GPU sides, implementing tighter control over texture maps, logic, and animation to reduce computation costs and subsequently improve the frame rate during this boss fight.
Eclipse Glow Games also collaborated with NVIDIA beyond the already announced DLSS and path tracing integration to achieve a solid gaming experience across multiple platforms. In the future, the developers and NVIDIA will conduct joint optimizations at the driver level, presumably in the lead-up to the game’s launch.
The release window still remains under wraps, but the studio confirmed that a “hands-on event” will take place this Summer, and registration will be open to all players. Based on this statement, it…
