What Happened?
Nvidia (NVDA:NASDAQ) and Apple each committed $25 million to President Donald Trump’s planned White House ballroom, according to a Washington Post report on Thursday.
The report showed total private donations of $333 million for the project.
Others gave $25 million too, including the Adelson family and Dish Network co-founder Charles Ergen. Lockheed Martin, Microsoft and Palantir each gave $10 million. The president is not on the donor list, per the Post.
Nvidia said it was proud to support a nonpartisan trust, and a spokesperson said its support for the U.S. is independent of any business interests.
Apple declined to comment.
The White House said it will not release donor details.
The project has drawn criticism.
Watchdog groups say the secrecy raises questions about donor influence. The Post said half the money came from companies or executives with federal contracts.
