Nutanix is slashing 5% of its global workforce, according to a filing it has made with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
The firm hasn’t put a figure on the number of jobs to be lost, and where they will be lost – by the end of this October – but the company currently employs around 8,000 staff. A 5% cut from this figure equates to about 400 jobs being axed at the cloud management and virtualisation software vendor.
Nutanix said in its filing: “The workforce reduction is intended to streamline and realign the company’s organisational structure, improve operational efficiency and agility, and reallocate resources toward strategic priorities and long-term growth objectives.
“The ultimate scope, timing and implementation of the workforce reduction may vary by jurisdiction and remain subject to applicable local law requirements, consultation processes, engagement with employee representative bodies, and other implementation considerations.”
Nutanix says it expects to incur severance and other termination costs of between $33m and $43m as part of its restructuring plan.
