Nutanix buys Ryax as strategy expands from virtualisation to agentic AI

Nutanix is positioning its next phase of growth around a broader infrastructure platform capable of supporting virtual machines, Kubernetes and emerging AI workloads, while maintaining the channel-led model that has underpinned the company since its early hyperconverged infrastructure days.

The strategy represents a significant expansion from the Nutanix that initially built its business around HCI and later its AHV hypervisor. The company now wants to provide a common operating layer across customer datacentres, public cloud and other infrastructure environments, allowing workloads to be moved without requiring applications to be fundamentally rebuilt.

That evolution comes as Nutanix enters its new financial year with annual recurring revenue of $2.55 billion, up 16% year-on-year, while FY2026 revenue increased 12% to $2.85 billion.

Sven Schoenaerts, Head of EMEA Channel at Nutanix (pictured), told IT Europa that hybrid and multicloud had become central to the company’s evolution beyond its original HCI proposition. “The reason I joined was because Nutanix was pitching to work on the problem of hybrid and multi-cloud for customers that wanted to run IT, not just on-prem, but also in the public cloud, but not just one public cloud, but multiple,” he said.
