Nvidia unveils massive $150B increase to share buyback program
Nvidia NVDA said its board of directors has increased the size of its buyback program by $150B, using its massive balance sheet to buy back its stock. The $150B increase leaves Nvidia with $235B in buyback authorization. It is the largest buyback program in U.S. history, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
AMD to acquire World Labs in $8.2B all-stock deal
Advanced Micro Devices AMD said it would acquire World Labs, an AI model and research lab, in an all-stock transaction is valued at nearly $8.2 billion.
The surprise announcement was praised by analysts from Wall Street. Citi analyst Atif Malik said the decision to add World Labs and its founder, Fei-Fei Li (widely referred to as the “godmother of AI”), gives the company “deeper visibility” into how AI models are evolving.
RBC analyst Srini Pajjuri echoed those sentiments, suggesting that the deal to acquire the privately held AI research lab could “help position the company to offer full-stack solutions for robotics, simulation, and physical AI markets, which are in early stages.”
