Northeastern opens AI makerspace in partnership with Microsoft – The Huntington News

Northeastern’s artificial intelligence, or AI, makerspace opened Sept. 28 on the first floor of Snell Library, where makerspace staff will lead workshops and guide students and faculty in using the technology. 

Created in partnership with Microsoft, the AI makerspace aims to help students, faculty and staff learn how to use AI efficiently, according to its webpage. Microsoft has struck similar partnerships with other universities, including the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Kentucky.

Other universities, including Carnegie Mellon University and the Georgia Institute of Technology, have launched AI makerspaces in collaboration with JPMorgan Chase & Co. and NVIDIA, respectively. Microsoft representatives and Northeastern staff held the grand opening on Sept. 24 and 25, where they held events throughout the day and walked around talking to students.
