New laws could stop bosses from using AI to create rosters, tech geeks warn

Technology developers and online platforms have raised the alarm over nationwide laws regulating the use of artificial intelligence, warning that they risk preventing companies from adopting new technologies.

The Tech Council of Australia, whose members include Google, Uber, Atlassian and OpenAI, said on Thursday the New South Wales government’s Digital Work Systems Act poses “serious problems for tech innovators and developers” because of its broad scope and the powers of unions to assert control over AI, algorithms, automation and online platforms.
