New Google Maps Navigation Update: Traffic Lights and Stop Sign Pop-Ups on Android Auto

Google Maps on Android Auto is about to get a useful update. Google has started the rollout of what appears to be a clearer way to show the location of traffic lights and stop signs when a destination is set on Android Auto.

While Google Maps has been showing traffic lights on the map for quite some time, these icons only appeared on the screen, with no visual indicator or alert displayed during navigation.

This approach made sense. Because stop signs and traffic lights are very frequent, showing an alert every time you approach an intersection would eventually become distracting and annoying for drivers, especially if they spend most of their time on city roads.
