SALINE TWP., MI – A Saline Township resident has filed a legal request to intervene in a lawsuit seeking to stop the construction of a massive, 2.2 million-square-foot hyperscale data center next to her rural home.
Kathryn Hauseler, who lives on Willow Road near the data center site on West Michigan Avenue, filed a motion to intervene in Washtenaw County Circuit Court.
Householder tries to defend the community leaders original decision to reject a conditional rezoning approximately 575 hectares of farmland for the data center.
The community board initially rejected the rezoning in September. However, according to data center developers and property owners sued the communitythe board changed course and decided to settle down instead of fighting against it.
Householder claims in her court filing that Saline Township violated the Open Meetings Act when the township’s board of trustees decided during a closed meeting on Oct. 1 to settle the lawsuit and seek a consent judgment.
