The community group wants transparency, collaboration and a clearer roadmap for the open source database
A community that claims to represent the interests of MySQL users and developers has launched the OurSQL Foundation, with the aim of providing a unified front against Oracle, which owns the intellectual property behind the popular open source database.
The new non-profit organization aims to help the MySQL community access knowledge and provide feedback for future development in a transparent and consistent manner. The community organization also claims that it will support the growth and use of MySQL as an open source database and will work with all market participants, including Oracle, to ensure success with the next generation of developers and applications.
In February, the group started behind the launch invited Oracle to participate in plans to establish an independent foundation to lead the development of MySQL.
