Many of those AI tools, such as the AI-enabled recorder and wallpaper generator, eventually made their way to the Google Pixel 8 series. Google even brought most of the new additions to older models like the Pixel 6 and mid-range Pixel 6a.
With every generation, Google promised a fresh suite of AI capabilities. Most of the multi-modal-ready features were launched on the Pixel 9 series, but as expected, many made their way to the aging models.
Google’s early initiative clearly assured users that it would roll out these fancy Gemini features on as many Pixel models as possible. This also showed that its decision aligns with the extended software policy for its devices.
This promise gave me real confidence. I believed my phone would continue getting meaningful AI upgrades for years to come.
