Morningstar and PitchBook are expanding their reach into AI-driven financial research through a new integration with Perplexity, giving investors and financial professionals direct access to analyst-backed market intelligence within the rapidly growing AI search platform.
The integration allows eligible users to access Morningstar and PitchBook data, research, and investment analysis through Perplexity’s AI-powered research environment, including Perplexity Computer, which supports more advanced multi-step research workflows. The companies said the integration is designed to combine natural-language AI search with citation-supported investment intelligence across both public and private markets.
The move reflects a broader shift underway across the financial data industry, where investment research providers are racing to embed proprietary content into generative AI tools increasingly used by analysts, advisors, and institutional investors. Rather than relying solely on traditional terminals or research portals, firms are now positioning their data inside AI-native workflows where users ask questions conversationally and expect sourced responses in real time.
