IIn honor of Pride, I want to share some important news: Being straight is actually awesome! This public service announcement is brought to you by The New York Times, which published an op-ed with this headline as an offering to the Ragebait Gods on the eve of Pride Month. Subsequently, the headline of the article, written by a Playboy editor, was changed to “There’s Nothing Wrong With Wanting Men.” “I will say anything and say it,” author Magdalene J Taylor boldly wrote. “There has never been a better time in human history to practice heterosexuality happily and successfully.”

Congratulations to Ms. Taylor for her successful pursuit of heterosexuality and her courageous dismantling of straw men. But look, even though I don’t like denigrating anyone’s (straight) parade, I still have a few small criticisms of their argument. In fact, I keep seeing data that somewhat contradicts the idea that we’re living in a golden age for heterosexual women.
