MinterEllison is the first major Australian law firm to loudly acknowledge a growing global fear: artificial intelligence-driven automation could have a negative impact on the number of lawyers, and graduates will be affected first.

Minters has reduced its 2025-26 graduate cohort by nearly a third to 72 compared to last year, in part because artificial intelligence automates routine work at lower levels.
