Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has spent his career moving Microsoft’s center of gravity away from the desktop, and his newest sentence about Copilot reads like the last step of that journey. He wrote it to launch the biggest overhaul of the assistant so far, at the very moment his own company is pulling Copilot buttons out of Windows.
“We’re building Copilot as a new OS for work that spans every model, every form factor, and every task.”
Nadella posted the line on X, and Windows Latest, which reported it, noted that the post did not mention Windows 11 once. It introduced a rebuilt Copilot app with four parts: Home, where quick Chat and the delegated-task mode Cowork sit together; full Word, Excel and PowerPoint running inside Copilot; Code, which builds small apps from plain-language descriptions; and Autopilot, an agent formerly called Scout that Microsoft says keeps working while you sleep. Within hours, the post had passed a million views.
