The fact that my first article of 2026 is about artificial intelligence likely sets the tone for another year dominated by AI news and headlines.
This is currently hard to avoid, especially if you are a user of Microsoft ecosystem products. Every single app, service, and product that Microsoft has on the market now has some kind of AI integration, regardless of quality or usefulness.
Microsoft Copilot is the company’s spearhead and is entirely powered by ChatGPT and Microsoft’s smart early investments in OpenAI. The interface is now pre-installed on Windows PCs and, at the time of writing, occupies a top spot in most mobile app stores. However, it’s nowhere near as widespread as OpenAI’s ChatGPT service, and Google Gemini’s continued development means Microsoft’s old arch-rival is quickly leaving the competition behind – especially in enterprise integrations, where Microsoft has its sights set on its sights above all else.
