Microsoft to ‘redirect’ data center incentive back to Mount Pleasant

Microsoft is returning financial incentives the company was set to receive for development of its massive data center campus in Mount Pleasant.

In 2023, Mount Pleasant officials approved a development agreement with the tech company, which included Microsoft getting up to $5 million in annual incentives from the village.

“Microsoft is now eligible to receive the incentive because its developments have created more property value than is required under the agreement,” a statement from the village said.
