Microsoft is considering delaying or abandoning its 2030 goal of meeting all of its hourly electricity consumption by purchasing renewable energy. Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The “expensive and energy-intensive data center push” changes the viability of Microsoft’s “climate commitments,” which predated the AI era and are among the industry’s most ambitious goals, the report said.
