As a lifelong Windows user, I’ve spent the last decade trapped in a cycle of familiar frustration. Year after year, Microsoft rolls out flashy OS updates while basic functionality—like handling audio outputs or managing a dual-monitor setup—remains infuriatingly broken. Rather than wait for a fix that is clearly never coming, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Using Anthropic’s newest model, Claude Opus 5.5, I vibe coded a custom utility to fix my exact hardware nightmares in a single afternoon. Here’s how I accomplished what Microsoft couldn’t.
A Decade of Phantom Displays and Audio Nightmares
Admittedly, I have a somewhat unusual setup: I use an ultrawide monitor to browse the web, play games occasionally, and work, but I do the majority of my gaming on a massive BenQ monitor that sits to my left on an L-shaped desk.
