Tech giants Microsoft, Google and xAI announce they will give the US federal government access to their new artificial intelligence models for national security testing.
The Commerce Department’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) announced the agreement on Tuesday amid growing concerns about the capabilities that Anthropic’s newly unveiled Mythos model could offer hackers.

Under the new agreement, the U.S. government will be allowed to evaluate the models before deployment and conduct research to assess their capabilities and security risks.
The agreement fulfills a July promise by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to work with tech companies to review their AI models for “national security risks.”
