The U.S. Department of Energy has formed partnerships with 24 companies to advance the Genesis Mission, a national effort to apply artificial intelligence to discovery science, national security and energy innovation.

The pacts are memorandums of understanding that signal collaboration rather than funded contracts. The DOE said signatories either have active projects at national laboratories or have expressed interest in work with the labs.
