Microsoft and Meta are fueling a boom in data center leases worth nearly $1 trillion

Microsoft and Meta Platforms each committed nearly $50 billion ($70 billion) in additional data center leases in their most recent quarters, underscoring the tech industry’s increasing bet on artificial intelligence.

These commitments helped bring total future data center lease commitments to more than $700 billion at the largest cloud computing companies, which include Oracle and Amazon. Those commitments have risen steadily over the past year as tech giants strike deals to lease server farms, according to a Bloomberg analysis of quarterly filings.
