The comments from Andrew Bosworth, Meta’s chief technology officer, follow a report from WIRED last week that revealed widespread discontent within the applied AI engineering division. Meta created a department in March with around 6,500 engineers and product managers to work on projects to improve the company’s generative AI models. But what workers described as the substandard nature of the work led one to call it a “gulag.”
