Former Australian cricket captain Meg Lanning’s likeness appears in a widely criticized promotional video for the Manchester Super Giants.
Lanning signed with The Hundred in January, shortly after the company controversially rebranded from Manchester Originals.
The name change came after the team was bought by Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka.
The billionaire marked the name change on his social media with an AI video, and the team has now followed suit and released a rendered video with all the classic AI features.
Midway through the video, Lanning shows a smooth, strangely beaming face, holds a sticker-adorned bat, and says nothing at all.
The famous Mancunian pub ‘The Peveril of the Peak’ is depicted fairly accurately, but the taxi waiting outside will probably have trouble with the dibble as the number plate is pure gibberish.
