Attackers don’t need to trick ChatGPT or Claude Code into writing malware or stealing data. There is a whole class of LLMs designed specifically for this job.
One of these, WormGPT 4, promotes itself as “your key to AI without limits,” and it has come a long way since the original AI-versus-evil model WormGPT emerged in 2023, then died out and was quickly replaced by similar crime-focused LLMs.
Sales of WormGPT 4 began around September 27 with advertisements on Telegram and underground forums such as DarknetArmy, according to researchers at Unit 42 of Palo Alto Networks. Subscriptions start at $50 for monthly access and go up to $220 for lifetime access, which includes full source code.
