Letter: Why not repurpose the Microsoft campus?

Amid the ongoing debate about where to build a

new convention center

in Fargo, might I make a suggestion? As I was driving by the old Microsoft campus yesterday, I notice that the letters had been removed from their sign, and that the three flagpoles were gone. If this huge facility is now empty, could it not be purchased and repurposed for the center? There could also be arrangements with hospitality interests such as hotels and restaurants to remodel and utilize some of the space so as to have an “all-in-one” facility!

I would think that with the city and other related businesses sharing the cost, it would be cheaper than constructing an entirely new facility. With easy access to I-29, 52nd Avenue South, 32nd Avenue South and other major Fargo arteries, I feel this would be the best and least expensive alternative!
