On March 10, Lam Research Corporation (NASDAQ:LRCX) and IBM announced a partnership to develop processes and materials for sub-1nm logic scaling. The collaboration focuses on novel materials, fabrication, and High-NA EUV lithography.
This deal builds upon more than 10-years of successful collaboration between the two companies. The latest partnership is a 5-year agreement, which targets sub-1nm nodes with advanced etch and deposition, complex architectures, and High-NA EUV for interconnects and device patterning.
Management noted that key areas of collaboration include new material and processes for complex 3D architectures like nanosheets and nanostacks, using Lam’s Kiyo and Akara etchers and Striker and ALTUS depositors to build reliable layers.
