Users are reporting widespread errors for Cloudflare and AWS services Friday morning. At the same time, Meta sites, including Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp have experienced widespread outages.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts cloud computing and storage, and Cloudflare handles security and performance. The two are necessary for many websites and apps to function properly.
AWS error reports started climbing around 8:25 a.m. CT at downdetector.com, and the largest spike hit around 9:40 a.m. A map shows reports are coming from across the U.S. It was still very high by 10:25 a.m.
According to downdetector.com, a small spike in Cloudflare user errors started around 8:40 a.m. CT, followed by a significant spike just before 9 a.m. Most errors were about the dashboard, though some were regarding the API or DNS. By 10:25 a.m., the issues were resolving, but error reports were still much higher than usual.
