iOS 27.2 is now available for download with so many improvements for iPhone owners, but on the other hand, it also looks like it comes with bad news for CarPlay users. This is because a glitch that affects Google Maps and Waze is seemingly part of this update, making the two navigation apps significantly more difficult to use on infotainment screens.
Several discussion threads on reddit (1, 2) highlight a bug that causes the journey information panel to cover the vehicle icon in Google Maps and Waze. The right edge of this panel blocks the navigation arrow or a custom vehicle icon from showing up on CarPlay, and this doesn’t appear to be an app-specific issue.
