The scramble for artificial intelligence continues until the end of the year, like OpenAI perhaps raise $10 billion from Amazon, maybe some of that up to $100 billion from a number of investors with a valuation of $750 billion.
And Databricks is doing a $4 billion Series L round – this is the first I’ve heard of it – at a valuation of $134 billion. Phew.
At the same time, Oracle and a partner unsettled the stock market switcheroo on its $10 billion data center project in Michigan. But if data center backers are becoming a little more cautious, demand hasn’t diminished yet – Micron crushed its revenue as buyers can’t get enough of its high-bandwidth memory chips for AI systems.
The coming end of the year didn’t slow down the race for AI models, as Google was once again in the mix with a well-received new model lightweight Gemini model and OpenAI immediately struck with a new one Image generation model. Even Nvidia spoke up Set of Nemotron models for AI agents.
ServiceNow supposedly…
