AWS is rebranding AWS CodeStar Connections as AWS CodeConnections. This change will take effect in the APIs, CLI, SDK, and documentation. The AWS Management Console will continue to reference CodeStar Connections until May 1, 2024, and will transition to CodeConnections after that date. Users will have time to adjust their IAM policies to accommodate the new resource names. Existing connections using AWS CodeStar Connections will still work as before. The new APIs, CLI, and console will support both old and new connection resource IDs. However, the old APIs, CLIs, and SDKs that reference CodeStar Connections will no longer be available after April 2025.
AWS CodeConnections integrates with popular Git-based source providers like GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. This allows AWS services such as AWS CodePipeline, Amazon CodeWhisperer, and AWS CloudFormation to receive notifications about repository events and access source code for building, testing, and deploying applications.
For additional information about this rebranding, users can visit the name change summary page. To learn more about AWS CodeConnections features, the product page is available for reference. AWS CodeConnections is supported in regions where AWS CodePipeline operates, excluding specific areas like Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), Africa (Cape Town), Middle East (Bahrain), Europe (Zurich), Asia Pacific (Jakarta), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), Asia Pacific (Osaka), Asia Pacific (Melbourne), Israel (Tel Aviv), Europe (Spain), Middle East (UAE), and AWS GovCloud (US-West).
