Spread the love

In a recent article by Chad Cox for Embedded Computing Design, AAEON introduced its NanoCOM-RAP, a COM Express Type 10 CPU module powered by 13th Generation Intel Core processors. The NanoCOM-RAP supports up to 10 cores, 12 threads, and turbo frequency on its performance and efficiency cores.

This new module is designed to meet the needs of a small, flexible, and scalable solution with improved memory and storage capabilities. It features 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory, two SATA drives, four PCIe slots for additional expansion, and a 128GB integrated NVMe option. The NanoCOM-RAP also supports dual display outputs with resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz using integrated Intel UHD graphics, making it ideal for AI vision applications.

In terms of connectivity, the NanoCOM-RAP comes with a LAN port for the Intel Ethernet I226-IT 2.5 GbE controller, eight USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, two 2-wire UARTs, one 8-bit GPIO, SMBus, and I2C. This wide range of interfaces makes it suitable for industrial, robotics, and edge applications.

The module has a power input range of 9V to 15V, built-in TPM 2.0, and weighs only 0.15lb with dimensions of 84mm x 55mm. It also supports multiple operating systems, including Windows 10 (64-bit) and Linux Ubuntu 22.04.2 with Kernel 5.19, providing developers with flexibility in different environments.

In conclusion, the NanoCOM-RAP from AAEON offers a powerful and efficient computing solution in a compact form factor. With its high-performance capabilities and wide range of connectivity options, it is well-suited for a variety of applications in the industrial, robotics, and edge computing sectors.
