Interior Ministry opens internal “conversation” about introducing three types of AI

The Home Office is looking closer to starting to adopt AI and is currently focused on shaping a department-wide “conversation” about the technology following earlier behind-the-scenes preparatory work.

Matt Hay, CIO and first deputy minister for digital delivery services, told the ServiceNow Federal Forum in Canberra that the Home Office had an interest in three forms of AI: assisted, embedded and agentic.

“We are trying to position conversations in the context of the concept of assisted AI, with Copilot being an obvious example here,” said Hay.
