A Guidance Cut That Reshaped the Narrative

The most consequential development for shareholders came not from a laboratory but from the finance department. According to media reports, IBM’s leadership trimmed its full-year 2026 currency-adjusted revenue growth target from more than 5% down to a range of 4% to 5%. The revision landed after a second quarter in which sales fell short of analyst estimates.
