What Does IBM’s Swift Integration Actually Do?
IBM is connecting its Digital Asset Haven platform to Swift’s blockchain-based shared ledger, giving banks a new route for moving tokenized deposits while keeping familiar payment messaging and compliance processes in place.
The integration is being introduced through a beta ISO 20022 messaging adapter that allows financial institutions to instruct tokenized deposit transactions on Swift’s ledger using standard payment messages rather than building separate blockchain-specific workflows.
IBM said institutions participating in Swift’s program have already tested tokenized deposits using Digital Asset Haven. The ledger allows participating banks to move digital assets around the clock, although final settlement still takes place through existing banking infrastructure.
